About Us

Beans Coffee Stop Limited was the brainchild of Phil & Karen Gilbert during late 2003, and meticulous planning lead to the opening of the first BEANS in Oundle on the 16th of February 2004. This shop was an overnight success and was quickly joined by a second, in the centre of Stamford, which opened in late November 2004.

In July 2006 BEANS opened its third shop in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire. Venturing into new territory, both in its layout and location, BEANS of Higham complimented the other shops perfectly.

In September '07 BEANS number 4 opened in Oakham, Rutland.

June 2008 saw us move further south to Olney, 10 miles north of Milton Keynes, and in September of that year we opened in Uppingham - our second Rutland shop.

After a quieter 2009, we opened on Northampton University campus in January 2010 - a wonderful shop open to everyone! 

All BEANS shops offer a high class environment, with quality furnishings and tasteful décor in keeping with the period nature of the buildings themselves (all shops are Grade 2 Listed). Our shops have also been designed to blend in very well within their conservation area locations.

We aim to please the top end of the coffee shop market, as well as offering top quality buffet breakfasts, lunches & afternoon teas for both business and/or private functions - all delivered to your door.

At the Higham shop we also offer an excellent catered conference facility for parties of any size from 2 to 22!

BEANS has come to be recognised as ‘the place to be’ for all ages. Its reputation for serving the very best coffee in town is almost matched by the excitement surrounding those famous Ice Cream Milkshakes!

A couple of our trademarks are our use of wallchart World atlases - loved by our customers as a way of planning their next holiday, or simply to reminisce about previous ones - and our use of MICKI LONGLEY's artwork which, I'm sure our customers agree, provide a view of the world from a slightly different angle! 

With FAIRTRADE at its heart and a family of staff and customers (and that includes you) BEANS has something different to offer than other coffee shops...
